Mick’s sad sundae

MICK IS A complex sundae of sorts – but, the way her luck’s going, probably without the cherry on top. Predictably, the ice-cream creation and even the glass of beer aren’t enough to pull her from the doldrums she finds herself in, with the sundae being described as just ‘O.K., covered all over with chocolate and nuts and cherries’.

We suspect it’s her mood, rather than the sundae itself, that’s the issue. This recipe, starting with our chocolate porter ice cream (or any ice cream you like) and topped with a chocolate salted caramel sauce, cherries, nuts and whipped cream, is an absolute delight – and guaranteed to bring at least a little cheer.

In the spirit of solitary solidarity, this recipe serves one person, though it can be easily scaled up if you are in the mood for company. If not, store your extra sauce in the fridge or freezer, on hand for when you next need a boost.
